Inspired by the ‘Fight Like a Girl’ movement, our 6th graders have been learning about the importance of gender equality. Using a Google Form they identified the prevelant stereotypes in their local community and their impact on the lives of men and women. By studying various published studies students understood the gender discrimination and stereotyping prevalant in the US and UK too. Students understood how discrimination is present in the movies, pop music and the news as well. They also highlighted the women who are breaking the glass cieling and shattering the society’s pre-conceived notions.
